How proud I am of you, Little One!

Luke has had the joy of being able to go to Cubbies (Awana) this year. He really has enjoyed each and every week. He's excited to go, happy to be there and excited to come home and tell what he did and learned that week. Like many children his favorite activity there is game time. He can always tell what he played and who won. It's cute!

This past Wednesday was Awana Awards night. Luke was really looking forward to this as he finished his book and was getting a Cubbie Bear award. JD and I are so proud of him for saying his verses each and every week all year long. He definitely deserved this award and we were excited to see him get it and cheer for him when he did. I spent a crazy amount of time sewing on all of his patches that he had earned throughout the year. Yeah, you're suppose to do them as they earn them, but... oops!

Well, life of course always throws curve balls at interesting times and poor Luke was hit with a horrible fever and stomach bug (We now believe it was the Norovirus that is going around- yuck!). I had responsibility of telling him that unfortunately he couldn't go to get his Cubbie award. It broke his heart. He kept telling us that he was feeling better, but the thermometer said otherwise. We reassured him that he would still get his Cubbie Bear award. We just wouldn't go to the awards ceremony. He talked about it for days after. Always asking when he was going to get it.


Sunday rolls around and Luke was still sick so I stayed home with him while JD went to church. Thankfully the Cubbie director happened to bring his award with her on Sunday and gave it to JD to give to Luke. So, though we didn't make it to the awards and Luke wasn't able to accept his Cubbie Bear in front of everyone that did not change the joy and excitement on his face when his daddy presented it to him and we all congratulated him on a job well done.




See! He couldn't even look up for the camera. So much joy over a tiny bear :)
